Self Compassion Practice

Self compassion can be an excellent gateway out of suffering, especially when the suffering is fueled by guilt or shame. Place your hand over your heart and breathe deeply, feeling your abdomen rise and expand. As you do this, say to yourself, “I offer myself compassion and love.” Repeat this for several minutes until you feel a “loosening” of physical tension. If negative thoughts enter your mind or your attention wanders, gently bring your yourself back to the breath and repeat the words again.
